Decoding the City is the latest book edited by Dietmar Offenhuber and Carlo Ratti of MIT Senseable Lab collecting some 13 articles on, as the subtitle reads – Urbanism in the Age of Big Data – the use of Big Data analysis for urbanism. The book is divided in 3 chapters:

  • Data – Source and Collection
  • Representation – Models and Visualization
  • Places – Implications for Design

In Big Data analysis, a major role is played by data visualization therefore the book showcases novel infographics to make data understandable to the general public in a very effective way.
